TOHKnet Launches “TOHKnet Cloud Server powered by OCF,” Cloud Service Close to the Tohoku and Niigata Regions

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, and TOHKnet Co., Inc. (“TOHKnet”) opened an “OCF (OCX Compute Fabric)” connection site within the “Sendai Chuo Data Center” operated by TOHKnet, and began offering OCF services on October 1, 2026. In line with this, TOHKnet will launch OCF under the service name “TOHKnet Cloud Server powered by OCF.”

OCF is a cutting-edge, regionally distributed cloud service provided jointly by BBIX and IDC Frontier Inc. By leveraging “OCX (Open Connectivity eXchange)”, a cloud-based network service developed by BBIX and its subsidiary BBSakura Networks, Inc., the two companies seamlessly distribute and deploy robust cloud infrastructure across regional data centers, delivering a secure, low-latency cloud environment in close proximity to customer sites.

In recent years, while the use of cloud services has become widespread among companies and local governments, there is growing demand for cloud infrastructure located in close proximity to users, driven by data sovereignty and security requirements. To address these needs, TOHKnet will launch an OCF site at the “Sendai Chuo Data Center,” expanding cloud infrastructure options available to customers in the Tohoku and Niigata regions.

“TOHKnet Cloud Server powered by OCF” is a cloud service resold by TOHKnet using OCF provided by BBIX and IDC Frontier, delivering it directly to customers as its own service. Combining OCF with TOHKnet’s private network and data center services supports high-security, high-availability systems, enabling a flexible hybrid IT environment. By delivering integrated network, data center, and cloud solutions, TOHKnet helps customers drive digital transformation (DX), strengthen business continuity (BCP), and optimize IT infrastructure.

Through this new OCF site, BBIX and TOHKnet will expand cloud options across Tohoku and Niigata, driving regional digital growth with unified network, data center, and cloud solutions.
