Configurable Bandwidth for OCX “Virtual Circuit Interface” Increased to 100 Gbps

Enabling over 10 Gbps per VCI for simpler, more flexible network configurations

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”) is expanding the configurable bandwidth of the OCX (Open Connectivity eXchange) Virtual Circuit Interface (VCI), jointly developed with BBSakura Networks, Inc., from 10 Gbps to a maximum of 100 Gbps. The upgraded capacity will be available starting August 20, 2026.

A VCI is a resource equivalent to a virtual network (VLAN) used between a customer’s equipment and OCX equipment. Previously, the maximum configurable bandwidth for a VCI was limited to 10 Gbps. As a result, even when customers configured a Link Aggregation Group (LAG) with multiple 10 Gbps Physical Ports to utilize bandwidth exceeding 10 Gbps, they were required to divide the traffic across multiple VCIs or VLANs, which caused network configurations and operations to become complex.

With this expansion, customers will be able to configure bandwidths exceeding 10 Gbps on a single VCI, depending on the bandwidth configuration of the connecting LAG Ports or other interfaces. Consolidating communications into a single VCI or VLAN enables simpler and more flexible network designs. Furthermore, this enhancement will reduce network management costs, including the setup and maintenance fees previously required for managing multiple VCIs to achieve expanded bandwidth.
