“OCX Multihoming” Now Available for LAG Ports

Enabling node-redundant connections by distributing LAG member ports across multiple OCX UNI Switches

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”) and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”) will launch “OCX Multihoming” on “OCX (Open Connectivity eXchange),” starting September 30, 2026. This new feature enables redundant connections utilizing multiple OCX UNI Switches.

Previously, when using a LAG (Link Aggregation Group), all member ports belonging to a LAG were limited to connecting to a single OCX UNI Switch (a switch installed at OCX connection points to accommodate customers on OCX).

Consequently, customers such as telecommunications carriers, CATV operators, and SIers seeking redundancy and availability for their OCX connections requested support for LAG redundant connections that distribute LAG member ports across multiple OCX UNI Switches.

The newly launched “OCX Multihoming” enables redundant configurations through multihoming by configuring LAG ports on two distinct OCX UNI switches within the same sites. This allows member ports that comprise each LAG port to be accommodated in their respective OCX UNI switches, providing customers with higher availability and operational efficiency in their OCX connections.This functionality is provided as an additional capability to existing LAG Ports, requiring no additional contracts or fees.

BBIX and BBSakura will continue to add features and improve services in response to diverse customer needs, aiming to realize a network environment where all people and things connect seamlessly.
