OCX Mobile Access Now Supports “Device-to-Device Communication” and “SIM Target Routes”
Expanding Mobile Connectivity Use Cases for Inter-Site Connections and Remote Monitoring/Maintenance While Simplifying Configuration and Operations
Effective November 5, 2026, BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”) will introduce two new Virtual Mobile Gateway (“VMG”) features—”Device-to-Device Communication” and “SIM Target Routes”—for “OCX Mobile Access,” a service jointly developed with BBSakura Networks, Inc. under “OCX (Open Connectivity eXchange).”
The corporate use of mobile networks has expanded beyond standard internet access for PCs and mobile devices to a wide variety of applications, such as network connections for stores, factories, and logistics hubs, as well as the remote monitoring and maintenance of IoT (Internet of Things) devices. On the other hand, communicating between SIM-enabled devices or accessing networks behind SIM-enabled routers previously required additional network equipment and individual route configurations. As a result, an increasing number of sites and devices has led to the challenge of complex network configurations and operations.
To address these challenges, BBIX has added the following two features to VMG:
▪️Device-to-Device Communication
“Device-to-Device Communication” enables direct communication between SIM-equipped devices belonging to the same VMG. This can be utilized for communication between SIM-enabled routers installed at retail stores, factories, or unmanned sites, as well as for inter-device communication among IoT devices.
▪️SIM Target Routes
“SIM Target Routes” allows users to configure routes on the VMG to reach local networks located behind SIM-enabled routers. By registering the target SIM and the IPv4 address range of the underlying network, traffic can be sent from the OCX side to PCs, surveillance cameras, sensors, and other devices connected behind the SIM-enabled router. This enables the use of mobile connectivity for remote monitoring and maintenance, such as accessing local equipment directly from headquarters or monitoring centers.
These new features enable customers to expand mobile network usage across inter-site connections (such as linking stores to factories), IoT deployments, and remote monitoring/maintenance. By eliminating the need for extra hardware and bespoke routing configurations, organizations can streamline provisioning, setup, and daily network management. Both features are included with your existing plan at no extra charge.
