BBIX Launches New IX Point “BBIX Tokyo No. 16” at SoftBank Corp.’s Tokyo Fuchu Data Center

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”) that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, will open “BBIX Tokyo No. 16” at SoftBank’s Tokyo Fuchu Data Center to provide IX Connect Service (“IX Service”) from July 8, 2026.

In recent years, Internet traffic has continued to grow, driven by the widespread adoption of generative AI (artificial intelligence), the increasing use of cloud-based services, and the advancement of digital transformation (DX). Demand is also rising among businesses that require high-capacity, low-latency network connectivity, including SaaS providers and security and cloud infrastructure operators.

SoftBank’s Tokyo Fuchu Data Center is designed to support large-scale power capacity and high-density racks, as well as hyperscale environments and AI/high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. The facility is expected to attract a wide range of businesses that require high-volume network traffic, including SaaS providers and security and cloud infrastructure operators.

To address this growing demand, BBIX will establish “BBIX Tokyo No. 16” within the data center and commence the provision of its Internet Exchange (IX) services.

By utilizing “BBIX Tokyo No. 16” in combination with existing BBIX connection points, customers will be able to enhance network redundancy and strengthen their business continuity planning (BCP) initiatives.

BBIX will continue to expand its connectivity footprint and contribute to the development of Japan’s Internet infrastructure, while supporting customers’ business growth and DX initiatives.
