Open Connectivity eXchange to Support “Cisco Secure Access”
Enabling higher-quality and more secure use of “Cisco Secure Access”
BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX, will add “Cisco Secure Access,” provided by Cisco Systems G.K. (“Cisco”), as a new destination connection for “XaaS Connection” within the cloud-based network service “Open Connectivity eXchange” (“OCX”) on January 15th, 2026.
“Cisco Secure Access” is a cloud-based Security Service Edge (SSE) solution built on zero trust. The security features provided by “Cisco Secure Access” can be flexibly applied to customers’ environment, enabling efficient and centralized security management.
With the advancement of Digital Transformation (DX), the adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS) and cloud services are expanding across enterprises, including local governments, and educational institutions. At the same time, the increasing importance of business operations and the sophistication of handled information have heightened the need for more robust and integrated security measures. Particularly within the closed network environments of local governments and educational institutions, traditional internet-based connection configurations have posed challenges in meeting the latest security guidelines and managing the operational burden of increasingly complex security controls.
“XaaS Connection” provides a closed connection from the OCX network to X as a Service (XaaS) applications without going through the Internet. Through this integration, users can now connect directly to Cisco Secure Access via OCX’s high-performance closed network. This allows customers to achieve a network that combines “private network stability” with “Zero Trust security,” enabling confidently deploy next-generation network infrastructure designed for cloud utilization. In addition, centralized management of VPN settings via the OCX portal helps reduce the complexity and operational burden for customers.
BBIX and BBSakura will continue to enhance their high-quality network infrastructure, including integration with security services, in order to support customers’ DX initiatives and business growth in the multi-cloud era.
Service Concept
Executive Comment
Toshio Nishihara, Executive Officer, Security Business, Cisco Systems G.K.
“We sincerely welcome and deeply appreciate the announcement from BBIX and BBSakura regarding compatibility of Cisco Secure Access with OCX’s ‘XaaS Connection’, following the previous support for Cisco Umbrella. Cisco Secure Access is Cisco’s cloud-native Security Service Edge (SSE) solution based on Zero Trust principles. It is also registered with the Information System Security Management and Assessment Program (ISMAP) for government information systems. This integration enables customers to utilize Cisco Secure Access through OCX, a private network, in a more secure and high-performance environment. We are confident this will have a highly positive impact, strengthening the security essential in today’s digital environment and powerfully driving our customers’ digital transformation and business growth.”
