BBIX and KCN Sign Business Partnership for Open Connectivity eXchange

BBIX to add OCX connection point to “KCN Data Center”

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (“IX”) business, has entered into a business partnership agreement with Kintetsu Cable Network Co.,Ltd. (“KCN”) to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”), a cloud-based network service. With this partnership agreement, BBIX will add an OCX connection point at KCN’s “KCN Data Center” (Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture) on July 1, 2024.

OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX. OCX offers on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services for a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.

KCN provides telecommunications broadcasting services for individuals, such as cable TV, Internet, and fixed-line telephone services, and corporate services, such as hosting and housing, mainly line services for telecommunications carriers and municipalities in the Keihanna (Kyoto-Osaka-Nara) area, centering on Nara Prefecture. KCN also offer a variety of services that are closely linked to the lives of customers, such as KCN Stations, which emphasize dialogue with users, and on-site consultations and problem-solving support for telecommunications services, under the slogans of “Face-to-face management” and “Aiming to be a reliable and secure company.”

Through the KCN Data Center, BBIX and KCN will provide customers with a network infrastructure that is both stable and robust by constructing a high-quality network utilizing OCX in the Keihanna area. BBIX and KCN will continue to make further contributions to local communities through the promotion of local DX (Digital Transformation).
