Tokyo, April 1, 2021 – BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that conducts an Internet Exchange (IX) business, today announced the launch of a “Remote Peering” service that enables peering* via overseas IX operators, an optional service exclusive to customers using “Smart IX”. The service will be available starting April 1.

“Smart IX” is an exchange service that enables international connections of IX services provided in Asia, the United States, and Europe. The new optional “Remote Peering” service will enable customers to perform direct peering with Internet operators using the IX services of overseas IX operators by utilizing the high-quality backbone network of the “Smart IX ” service. BBIX will initially start by partnering with “AMS-IX” provided by Amsterdam Internet Exchange B.V. and provide peering at BBIX European connection points. In the future, BBIX plans to expand its footprint by partnering with a number of affiliated IX operators worldwide.

BBIX will continue to provide solutions that contribute to the development of the Internet and strive to enhance services for our customers.
