BBIX Launches New IX Point “BBIX Osaka No. 9” at SoftBank Corp.’s Nara Ikoma Data Center

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. (“SoftBank”) that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, will open “BBIX Osaka No. 9” at SoftBank’s Nara Ikoma Data Center to provide IX Connect Service (“IX Service”) from December 22, 2025.

In recent years, the growing use of AI, cloud services, video streaming and online gaming has led to a steady rise in Internet traffic across western Japan. In the Kansai region, which serves as one of the country’s key data hubs, and this traffic is expected to continue increasing in the years ahead.

In response to these trends, BBIX will expand its network presence in the Ikoma area—one of the Kansai region’s key data center clusters—alongside the Saito area, where “BBIX Osaka No. 8” opened in October 2025. At ”BBIX Osaka No. 9,” BBIX will not only provide IX services, but also offer optimal connectivity within the Kansai region by utilizing SoftBank’s dedicated line services, enabling the facility to serve as a distributed hub.

By providing IX services at “BBIX Osaka No. 9,” BBIX aims to strongly support its customers’ DR (Disaster Recovery) and BCP (Business Continuity Planning) efforts, while also delivering efficient network connectivity. Through these initiatives, BBIX remains committed to enhancing connection quality, reducing communication costs and contributing to a more robust network environment for its customers.
