BBIX Partners with Okayama Network to Provide OCX Cloud-based Network Service
BBIX to add OCX connection point at Okayama Network Headquarters
BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (“IX”) business, has entered into a business partnership agreement with Okayama Network Inc. (“Okayama Network”) to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”), a cloud-based network service. With this partnership agreement, BBIX will add an OCX connection point at Okayama Network’s Headquarters on October 1, 2025.
OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX. OCX provides on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.
Okayama Network is a community-based cable television provider established in September 1983 and known locally as “Oni Vision.” It primarily provides services throughout Okayama City, and Kumenan Town and Misaki Town in Kume District. Its main business is multi-channel cable television broadcasting, offering terrestrial and BS digital broadcasting as well as a wide range of specialty channels. The community channel, which focuses on the local area, independently produces and broadcasts information useful to local residents, such as news and event information about Okayama. It also provides high-speed Internet connection services, realizing a comfortable communication environment through a fiber-optic network. In addition, Okayama Network offers affordable fixed-line telephone (IP telephone) services using cable television lines, contributing to the reduction of communication costs. Okayama Network is a comprehensive information and communications service provider that actively contributes to the local community by providing information and communications infrastructure services, supporting local events, and disseminating disaster prevention information.
Through this strategic collaboration agreement with BBIX, BBIX’s cutting-edge network solutions will be combined with Okayama Network’s communications services, dramatically evolving the region’s network infrastructure, and enabling closed-network connections to public clouds, nationwide OCX connection points, Internet connectivity, and SaaS (Software as a Service). This highly secure communication environment is the result of the fusion of Okayama Network’s long-standing track record in providing information infrastructure to the region and BBIX’s extensive network technology. This robust foundation will enable Okayama Network to provide a connection environment with high levels of security and flexibility to a wide range of sectors, including local governments, educational institutions, and enterprises. This collaboration will strongly support the digitalization of local communities and companies, create new business opportunities and significantly expand the possibilities for future business development.
