BBIX and PHOENIX Sign Business Partnership for Open Connectivity eXchange

BBIX to add OCX connection points at PHOENIX’s PXC Hiroshima and PXC Kochi,
contributing to nationwide infrastructure network development and regional digital transformation

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (“IX”) business, has entered into a business partnership agreement with PHOENIX Communications Inc. (“PHOENIX”) to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”), a cloud-based network service. With this partnership agreement, BBIX will add OCX connection points at “PXC Hiroshima” (Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture) and “PXC Kochi” (Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture) on March 1, 2026.

OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX. OCX offers on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.

This collaboration will combine PHOENIX’s upstream network operations with the regional ISP businesses of its group companies, WICOM Inc. and CBBS Inc., to advance the construction of a nationwide infrastructure network via OCX. This will enhance connectivity from regionally based hubs, with the aim of realizing a more flexible and high-quality network environment.

Through the addition of OCX connection points and the construction of its infrastructure network, PHOENIX will provide convenient Internet services to the region while contributing to the digitalization of government operations and the promotion of regional digital transformation (DX).

BBIX, BBSakura, and PHOENIX will work to contribute to building high-quality networks while accelerating customers’ DX. The companies are committed to expanding their services to foster new business creation and drive business growth.
