BBIX and HOTnet Sign Business Partnership with Open Connectivity eXchange

BBIX to expand OCX connection point to “S.T.E.P Sapporo Data Center”

BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”), a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (“IX”) business, has entered into a business partnership agreement with Hokkaido Telecommunication Network Co., Inc. (“HOTnet”) to provide Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”), a cloud-based network service. With this partnership agreement, BBIX will add a OCX connection point at HOTnet’s “S.T.E.P Sapporo Data Center” on May 1, 2024.

OCX is a cloud-based network service provided by BBIX and BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), a network solutions provider and subsidiary of BBIX. OCX offers on-demand, highly secure, low-latency, scalable connectivity services to a variety of cloud services and data centers used by customers.

HOTnet provides a wide range of network and cloud-based server services utilizing its own lines, taking full advantage of its position as a telecommunications carrier to support customers in solving a wide variety of issues. HOTnet also spares no expense in investing in technologies that evolve with the times, and provides forward-looking support to help customers achieve sustainable business growth.

By combining BBIX and BBSakura’s secure and high-quality OCX with HOTnet’s comprehensive ICT solutions, the partners aim to contribute to the creation of new business and new value for customers by decentralizing digital infrastructure and promoting DX (Digital Transformation) throughout Japan, with a focus on the Hokkaido region.
