Launch of “DNAT IP Address” on OCX’s XaaS Connection
Enabling Bidirectional Communication Between XaaS and Customer Environments to Support XaaS Migration for Enterprises and Local Governments
BBIX, Inc. (“BBIX”) will add “DNAT IP Address,” which applies DNAT functionality to destinations of “XaaS Connection” on “OCX (Open Connectivity eXchange),” jointly developed with BBSakura Networks, Inc. (“BBSakura”), and will begin offering the feature on September 8, 2026.
“XaaS Connection” is a service that provides direct connectivity to various XaaS (X as a Service) platforms from the closed OCX network, bypassing the Internet. Previously, the service solely supported Source Network Address Translation (SNAT), allowing outbound traffic from customer environments to XaaS platforms. It could not, however, route inbound traffic from the XaaS side to internal mail servers or business systems within the customer’s environment. Consequently, this limitation posed a challenge for customers whose XaaS migrations required access from the cloud to their internal systems, as their communication requirements could not be fulfilled.
The newly introduced “DNAT IP Address” feature applies Destination Network Address Translation (DNAT) to XaaS Connection endpoints, translating the destination global IP addresses of incoming traffic from the XaaS side into private IP addresses within the customer environment. By combining this with the existing SNAT capability, the service now enables secure, bidirectional closed-network communication between XaaS platforms and customer environment. This will support enterprises and local governments in using XaaS together with their existing internal systems through XaaS Connection.
For example, the feature can be used when cloud services such as Google LLC’s Google Workspace and Cybozu, Inc.’s Garoon connect to internal mail servers over a closed network via OCX.
